Your New Favorite Podcast: 'Talk Nasty to Me' with Nicole Rafiee
If you’ve ever seen Nicole Rafiee’s videos on YouTube, then you already know
that she’s funny and incredibly relatable, and she brings both of those
qualities and more to her new podcast, ‘Talk Nasty to Me’. Per her podcast
description, she is ‘a 20 year old, a college student, a YouTuber, and loves the
sound of her own voice. Talk Nasty to Me crawls through different topics weekly,
too lengthy, and maybe too nasty to air on YouTube”.
Nicole uses her platform to discuss the current happenings in her life, as well as incredibly timely topics. The first episode of the podcast tackled how she started her YouTube channel, how she became successful, and countless tips and tricks to hack the YouTube life. But if hearing about other people’s lives doesn’t particularly interest you, she also tackles current issues, like the toxicity of productivity culture (Episode 5) and how to be a better ally to trans people (Episode 7).
While Rafiee brings a special kind of dry wit to her podcast episodes, she’s also incredibly raw and honest when discussing happenings in her life and how she’s feeling. Episode 11, appropriately titled “Getting Out of a Rut”, outlines the personal struggles she’s been enduring after finding out that her mom was diagnosed with cancer, coupled with the pressure of being a college student while an international pandemic is raging in the background. Personally, I hung onto every word she said, because even though I am not enduring the same kind of struggle that she is, I can still relate to her thoughts and emotions. She provides her methods of getting out of a rut, without pressuring her listeners to do exactly what she's doing, and most of all, she encourages her listeners to be gentle with themselves and work their way out of a rut in the manner that is best for them.
‘Talk Nasty to Me’ is available on all platforms that stream podcasts, including Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
