5 New Songs to Listen to Right Now

It's literally impossible to keep up with all of the new music that's released across various genres every Friday. That's why I'm here. Here's 5 new songs spanning different genres that you should listen to right TF now.

1. "Turn Over The World" - Perry Farrell, Taylor Hawkins, and Starcrawler (featuring Etty Lau Farrell)

"Turn Over The World" is punchy with a gritty guitar rift. It details all the fear of it being too late for the next generation to save the world. Arrow de Wilde of Starcrawler croons, "to the youth we pass the torch / taking too long now half the world is torched," alluding to the impending environmental crisis.

2. "Waiting on a War" - Foo Fighters

"Waiting on a War" feels quintessentially Foo Fighters on an album that seems to be lacking in their typical style. Their latest album, Medicine at Midnight, is a little more 80s rock inspired, with a heavy hand on pop and synth. "Waiting on a War" is comforting and familiar. It's exactly what you expect, and that's why it's good.

3. "Fight For You" - H.E.R. (From the Original Motion Picture, "Judas and the Black Messiah")

H.E.R.'s latest single is taken from the movie, Judas and the Black Messiah, which is about Black Panther Party activist Fred Hampton and FBI informant William O'Neal; the film is set to premiere this month. H.E.R. contributes "Fight For You", a funky song about liberating yourself and fighting oppression, both of which are very fitting themes.

4. "American Cliche" - FINNEAS

"American Cliche" has been a part of Finneas' live set for some time now, but this is the first time that the track has been released as a studio single. Finneas has been hard at work with his sister, Billie, on her new album, so it makes sense at this time for him to officially release a song that has already been completed for quite some time.

5. "Slow Down" - VanJess

Nigerian-American R&B duo VanJess is made up of sisters Ivana and Jessica Nwokike. The duo just released their EP, Homegrown, and the whole album has a blues-y feel, which is only bolstered by the sisters' incredibly harmonies. "Slow Down" is enchanting, to be honest, and is accentuated by a saxophone line, which is probably my favorite part.
