Greta Van Fleet Teases New Album, "The Battle at Garden's Gate"
Greta Van Fleet is no stranger to the 60s/70s rock comparisons. After all, they've been compared to nearly every big band of the 1970s since they first emerged on the scene in 2017. In the video for their latest release, "Heat Above", the band welcomes and pays homage to this aesthetic.
"'Heat Above' is theatrical, eloquent, and exaggerated," Greta Van Fleet said in a statement about the video. "This is a dream in the clouds, a moment of peace in the storm. Thematically, we are dead center in the cult of Heaven, surreal, strange and free."
The comparison to Led Zeppelin has easily been most detrimental to Greta Van Fleet's introduction to the music scene. Many critics have been quick to point out the similarities between Josh Kiszka's falsetto and Robert Plant's signature vocals.
However, the band seems to be shedding these comparisons with their new album, The Battle at Garden's Gate, out April 16th.
Three singles have already been released from the album ("My Way, Soon", "Heat Above", and "Age of Machine"), all of which sound like the band is sharpening up and settling into their own artistic sound.
